MARCH WITH PRIDE

MARCH WITH PRIDE

The March With Pride Scholarship supports LGBTQIA+ performers in the marching arts by removing barriers to financial aid and awarding funds to those committed to equity, inclusion, and liberation.

MAASIN is proud to be led by strong queer voices. Many of us found confidence in our identities through the marching arts, yet we noticed a gap—while scholarships exist for other marginalized groups, none specifically support LGBTQIA+ performers. Additionally, many scholarship applications require parental or director recommendations, creating barriers for LGBTQIA+ youth who may face strained relationships at home or in their communities.

The March With Pride Scholarship removes these barriers. We aim to award $1,000 (or more, depending on fundraising) to performers who demonstrate a commitment to LGBTQIA+ equity, inclusion, and liberation in the marching arts, along with financial need. Awards may be given as a single scholarship or divided among multiple recipients based on applications.

Your support makes this possible. The more we raise, the more we can give—help us uplift LGBTQIA+ performers by donating today!

Important Notice: The March With Pride Scholarship is awarded as a reimbursement. Please track your contract and tuition payments so we can either (1) pay your organization directly for tuition or (2) reimburse you for eligible expenses, such as dues, travel costs, uniforms, and makeup, with proper receipts.

SUMMER 2025 Applications are currently closed.

Help Us Fund the Future of LGBTQIA+ Performers!

The March with Pride Scholarship is the first of its kind, breaking down financial barriers for LGBTQIA+ performers in the marching arts. But we can’t do it alone—we need your help to make it happen! Every donation goes directly to supporting talented performers who might not otherwise have the chance to march. The more we raise, the more scholarships we can award.

Scholarship Eligibility & Application Process

To qualify, applicants must:

  1. Identify as LGBTQIA+ (closeted applicants are welcome; identities will remain confidential. Allies are not eligible).

  2. Be contracted to march with a DCI/WGI-affiliated ensemble in any competitive class, including All-Age and SoundSport. Applicants do not need a contract at the time of application but must provide proof if awarded a scholarship. (This scholarship does not apply to scholastic ensembles at this time).

Application Process:

  1. Submit Application: Applicants will submit a form detailing their experience, financial need, and commitment to LGBTQIA+ equity in the marching arts. A selection committee of LGBTQIA+ MAASIN Core Members will review all submissions. Every applicant will be informed of their status, regardless of advancement.

  2. Interviews: Selected applicants will be invited to a short interview with the selection committee, where they will answer a few in-depth questions. After interviews, the committee will finalize scholarship recipients.
