New Year, New Logo, Same Us

Tonight you will notice our new logo appear on our accounts as we start to refresh and refine our look overall. While our old logo was synonymous with our work to create positive change across the marching arts, change needed to happen within too. This was not a change for the sake of change. Our decision to put time and energy into redesigning our logo followed a November incident surrounding a former MAASIN member and the designer of our first logo. We take accountability for all MAASIN members - past and present - critically and earnestly. This is what prompted a swift response on our end to retire the former design and begin the process to refresh our branding.

This month-long process involved all MAASIN core members while working with internal experienced designers who both understand our mission and how we should convey it through imagery. The new logo softens our former color palette while placing an emphasis on colors which historically represent social justice causes near to us; such as equity for gender-marginalized people and LGBTQIA+ liberation.

We hope you like the new logo as much as we do. We are endlessly grateful for the support and patience you have shown us throughout this process and 2021 as a whole. 2022 will bring back the scholarship, town halls, discussion circles, and workshops you know as well as new programming we hope you find exciting and helpful.

Please have a good night, stay safe, and direct any questions to info@maasin.net or to our social media DMs.

Yours,
MAASIN Core Membership
